Ingredients

For the Chicken

  • 1 pound chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (panko for extra crunch) Panko is recommended for crunch
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 large egg Beaten until smooth
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Cooking spray or oil for Air Fryer To prevent sticking

For the Bang Bang Sauce

  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup sweet chili sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sriracha Adjust to your heat preference

Seasonings

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder

Instructions

Preparation

  • Start by prepping your chicken pieces. Ensure they are cut evenly so they cook uniformly.
  • In one bowl, mix the all-purpose flour, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  • In a second bowl, beat the egg until smooth.
  • In a third bowl, place the breadcrumbs.
  • Begin the coating process by dredging each piece of chicken first in the flour mixture, then in the egg, and finally coating it with breadcrumbs. Make sure each piece is evenly covered.
  • Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for about 5 minutes.
  • Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray for non-stick.

Cooking

  • Arrange the coated chicken pieces in the basket in a single layer. Do not overcrowd to ensure even cooking.
  • Air fry for 10 minutes. After 5 minutes, check and shake the basket to ensure all sides crisp up nicely.
  • While the chicken cooks, prepare the bang bang sauce by mixing mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, and sriracha in a bowl until well combined.
  • After 10 minutes, check the internal temperature of the chicken. It should reach 165°F (74°C). If needed, air fry for an additional 2-3 minutes until golden brown.
  • Once cooked, remove the chicken and toss it in the bang bang sauce until evenly coated.

Notes

Let the chicken rest for a couple of minutes after air frying to keep it moist. This dish is great for meal prep or leftovers and can be served with rice, veggies, or in tacos.
