  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • pinch cayenne pepper (optional) For heat
  • fresh parsley or cilantro (optional) For garnish

Preparation

  • Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C), which usually takes about 3 to 5 minutes.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the drained and rinsed chickpeas with olive oil, stirring well to coat them evenly.
  • Add the garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper if using. Mix until the chickpeas are well-seasoned.
  • Transfer the seasoned chickpeas to the air fryer basket, spreading them out in a single layer for even cooking.

Cooking

  • Cook the chickpeas for 15 to 20 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through to ensure they cook evenly.
  • Watch carefully to prevent burning, as cooking times may vary depending on your air fryer model.

Serving

  • Once crispy and golden brown, carefully remove the chickpeas from the air fryer.
  • Garnish with freshly chopped parsley or cilantro if desired before serving.

Notes

For best results, drain and rinse chickpeas thoroughly to achieve perfect crunch. Avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket and consider trying different spices to customize flavor.
