Main Ingredients

  • 2 large russet potatoes Choose high-starch russet potatoes for best results.
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil Can also use avocado or canola oil.
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder Optional seasoning.
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder Optional seasoning.

Preparation

  • Peel the russet potatoes and rinse them under cold water.
  • Grate the potatoes using a box grater or a food processor.
  • Squeeze out as much excess moisture as possible using a kitchen towel or cheesecloth.
  • In a large bowl, combine grated potatoes, olive oil, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix until evenly coated.

Cooking

  • Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
  • Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
  • Spread the potato mixture in an even layer in the basket, being careful not to overcrowd it. Cook in batches if necessary.
  • Cook for about 15-20 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.
  • Carefully remove the hash browns from the air fryer and serve hot.

Notes

For added flavor, consider mixing in vegetables or cheeses. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
