Brisket Ingredients

  • 4-5 pounds beef brisket Select a brisket with good marbling
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 tablespoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper Adjust for spice preference
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 cup beef broth Use low sodium for less salt
  • 1/2 cup barbecue sauce Choose your favorite brand

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
  • In a bowl, mix brown sugar, paprika, black pepper, salt, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  • Rub the seasoning mix generously over all sides of the brisket.
  • Place the brisket in a roasting pan and pour the beef broth around it.
  • Cover the pan tightly with aluminum foil.

Cooking

  • Transfer the pan to the preheated oven and cook for 4 to 5 hours, checking periodically to ensure it's moist.
  • Once tender, remove from the oven and brush with barbecue sauce.
  • Allow the brisket to rest for at least 30 minutes before slicing.

Notes

For best results, choose a good quality brisket. Letting the brisket rest is crucial to retaining juices.
