  • 2 oz blood orange juice Use fresh juice for the best flavor
  • 1 oz tequila Opt for high-quality, 100% agave tequila
  • 1 oz lime juice Freshly squeezed is best
  • 1 oz triple sec Choose a less sweet triple sec to balance the flavors
  • to taste salt for rimming the glass Use flavored salts for a unique twist
  • as needed ice Fill the glass high with ice
  • 1 blood orange slice For garnish

Preparation

  • Rim your glass by rubbing a fresh lime wedge around the rim and dipping it into salt for an even coating.
  • In a cocktail shaker, combine 2 ounces of fresh blood orange juice, 1 ounce of tequila, 1 ounce of lime juice, and 1 ounce of triple sec.
  • Add plenty of ice into the shaker, secure the lid, and shake vigorously for about 15 seconds.
  • Strain the mixture into your prepared glass filled high with ice.
  • Garnish with a slice of blood orange.

Notes

For extra zest, consider adding a splash of citrus soda after pouring. If you have leftover mix, you can store it in a sealed container in the fridge for up to 24 hours without ice.
