  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with butter or oil.
  • In a small pan or microwave, melt the butter or coconut oil.
  • In a large bowl, combine the peeled and cubed butternut squash with the sliced apples.
  • Once combined, drizzle the melted butter over the top.
  • Sprinkle in the cinnamon and nutmeg, then add a pinch of salt and pepper.
  • Toss everything gently to coat the butternut squash and apples.
  • If desired, add a tablespoon of maple syrup for sweetness.
  • Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly.

Baking

  • Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for about 40 to 45 minutes.
  • Halfway through baking, give the dish a gentle stir to ensure even cooking.
  • The dish is ready when bubbly and fork-tender.

Serving

  • Allow the dish to cool slightly before serving.
