Ingredients

Cake Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1.5 cups granulated sugar
  • 0.5 cups unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 0.5 tsp baking soda
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

Topping Ingredients

  • 4-5 medium apples, peeled and sliced
  • 1 cup caramel sauce

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a round cake pan thoroughly.
  • In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  • In a separate bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and ground cinnamon.
  • Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, alternating with the milk. Mix until just combined.
  • Arrange the sliced apples neatly at the bottom of the greased cake pan and pour caramel sauce over the apples.
  • Pour the prepared cake batter evenly over the apples and caramel.

Baking

  • Bake for about 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Allow the cake to cool in the pan for a few minutes before inverting onto a serving plate.

Serving

  • Slice the cake into generous pieces, serve warm or at room temperature, and optionally, add a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.

Notes

Use apples that hold their shape well, such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp. You can add spices or nuts to enhance the flavor. The cake stores well wrapped for up to 2 days at room temperature and about a week in the refrigerator.
