  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups chocolate chips (or your favorite mix-ins)

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy (about 3 to 5 minutes).
  • Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then mix in the vanilla extract.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
  • Fold in chocolate chips or your chosen mix-ins.

Baking

  • Use a cookie scoop or tablespoon to drop dough onto prepared baking sheets, leaving about 2 inches of space between each.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 10 to 12 minutes, or until edges are golden brown and centers look slightly underbaked.
  • Let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for about 5 minutes before transferring to wire racks.

Notes

For soft and chewy cookies, slightly underbaking is key. For enhanced flavor, chill the dough for at least 30 minutes before baking. Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for freshness.
