  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Should feel cool and pliable
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs Beat in one at a time
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour Sifted to avoid clumps
  • 2 tablespoons matcha powder Use culinary-grade for best flavor
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup white chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then add the vanilla extract and mix until smooth.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, matcha powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined.
  • Fold in the chocolate chips and white chocolate chips if using.
  • Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each cookie.

Baking

  • Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges turn golden brown while the centers remain soft.
  • Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

These cookies can be served as is or paired with a glass of milk or green tea. For a twist, serve with vanilla ice cream on top.
