Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Make sure the butter is at room temperature.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon almond extract

Decoration

  • Red and green sugar for decoration Generously sprinkle on top before baking.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt, then set aside.
  • In another large bowl, beat together the softened butter and granulated sugar until creamy and smooth.
  • Mix in the powdered sugar, then add the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract until well combined.
  • Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until a soft dough forms.

Shaping

  • Roll small portions of dough into balls, about the size of a tablespoon.
  • Flatten them slightly on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Shape the cookies into petals and sprinkle with red and green sugar.

Baking

  • Bake the cookies for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
  • Allow the cookies to cool on a wire rack before serving.

Notes

Store cooled cookies in an airtight container at room temperature. Dough can be made ahead and refrigerated for a day before baking.
