Ingredients
  

For the cookie dough

  • 4 tbsp butter (slightly softened) Ensure butter is at room temperature for the best texture.
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 yolk yolk Use the yolk for a chewier texture.
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cup flour 1 tbsp + 1/2 cup
  • 1 tbsp corn starch
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips Extra for topping.
  • 1/4 cup mini Christmas M&M's Extra for topping.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (approximately 175°C).
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  • In a medium bowl, cream the slightly softened butter with both brown sugar and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add the vanilla extract and the egg yolk, mixing until smooth and well incorporated.
  • Sprinkle the flour, corn starch, baking soda, and salt over the wet mixture, stirring just until combined.
  • Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips and colorful Christmas M&M's.
  • Using a medium cookie scoop, scoop the cookie dough onto the prepared baking sheet, creating about 10 equal-sized cookies.
  • Top each cookie with extra M&M's and chocolate chips.

Baking

  • Bake the cookies for about 8-9 minutes. They might appear underdone in the middle, but they will continue to bake as they cool.
  • Allow them to cool on the cookie sheet for about five minutes before transferring them to a cooling rack.

Notes

For the best results, chill the dough for 30 minutes before baking. Store in an airtight container to retain freshness.
