Ingredients
  

For the bread

  • 1/3 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 3/4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 cup milk or almond milk

For the apples

  • 2 medium apples, peeled and chopped Granny Smith or Honeycrisp recommended
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar For coating apples
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon For coating apples

For the glaze

  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 to 3 tablespoons milk or cream Adjust for desired consistency

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan.
  • Mix together the brown sugar and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon in a small bowl and set aside.
  • Toss the chopped apples with 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon in another bowl.

Batter Preparation

  • In a medium bowl, beat together 2/3 cup of granulated sugar and softened butter until smooth and creamy.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour and baking powder, then gradually mix into the creamed mixture, alternating with the milk.

Layering

  • Pour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan, followed by half of the apple mixture and half of the brown sugar-cinnamon mixture.
  • Repeat the layering process with the remaining batter, apples, and brown sugar mixture.
  • Gently press the apples into the batter with a knife to distribute the flavors.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 60 to 70 minutes, or until a toothpick in the center comes out clean.
  • Let it cool in the pan for 15 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Glazing

  • Mix powdered sugar with 1 to 3 tablespoons of milk or cream, adjusting for desired consistency.
  • Drizzle the glaze over the cooled bread and serve.

Notes

For variations, consider adding nuts, dried fruits, or spices. Ensure to store in an airtight container.
