  • 1 cup sugar Adjust according to taste.
  • 1 cup fresh orange juice Freshly squeezed recommended.
  • 1 large orange zest Use only the outer zest, avoid pith.

Preparation

  • Rinse the fresh cranberries under cold water and discard any soft or damaged ones.
  • In a medium saucepan, combine the rinsed cranberries, sugar, and fresh orange juice. Stir well to coat.

Cooking

  • Place the saucepan over medium heat and stir occasionally, allowing the mixture to come to a gentle simmer.
  • Cook for about 10 to 15 minutes, stirring occasionally until the sauce thickens and most cranberries have burst.
  • Remove from heat and stir in the orange zest.

Serving

  • Let the sauce cool to room temperature before serving or transferring to a storage container.

Notes

This sauce can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks or frozen for up to three months. Chill before serving for best flavor.
