  • 12 ounces fresh or frozen cranberries
  • 1 cup fresh orange juice
  • Zest of 1 large orange zest of 1 large orange
  • 1 cup granulated sugar Adjust sweetness to taste
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • A pinch of salt salt

Preparation

  • Rinse the cranberries under cold water, discarding any that are soft or bad.
  • In a medium saucepan, mix the cranberries, sugar, and water.
  • Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally to dissolve the sugar.
  • Once boiling, reduce the heat and add the orange juice, zest, ground cinnamon, and salt.
  • Simmer for about 10 to 15 minutes until the cranberries burst and the mixture thickens slightly.
  • Remove from heat and let the sauce cool, as it will thicken more as it cools.
  • Store in a container and refrigerate until ready to serve.

Notes

Can adjust sweetness by modifying sugar. Blend for a smoother texture. Consider adding spices or nuts before serving. Can be made in advance for better flavor.
