  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 cup orzo pasta
  • 1 can diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Grated Parmesan cheese for serving
  • Fresh basil for garnish

Preparation

  • Choose a large pot and place it on the stove over medium heat.
  • Add ground beef and let it brown, breaking it apart with a spatula, for about 5 to 7 minutes.
  • Chop the onion and mince the garlic while the beef is cooking.
  • Once browned, add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the beef; cook for an additional 3 to 4 minutes until translucent.
  • Drain any excess fat from the pot.

Cooking

  • Stir in diced tomatoes, beef broth, and orzo pasta; mix thoroughly and bring to a boil.
  • Reduce heat to a simmer and cook for about 10 to 12 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • When orzo is tender, pour in the heavy cream, stirring until combined.
  • Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Serving

  • Serve hot with grated Parmesan cheese on top and garnish with fresh basil.

Notes

For extra creaminess, you can add more heavy cream. Add vegetables like spinach or bell peppers for added nutrition.
