Ingredients
  

For the coating

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour This will help the cheese sticks adhere to the egg mixture.
  • 2 large eggs Beaten, mixed with milk.
  • 2 tablespoons milk Added to egg mixture.
  • 1 cup Italian-style breadcrumbs For coating the mozzarella sticks.
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese Enhances the flavor of the coating.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

For frying

  • 12 mozzarella cheese sticks Frozen, make sure to freeze them for at least 2 hours.
  • Oil for frying Use vegetable or canola oil.

For serving

  • Marinara sauce For dipping.

Preparation

  • Unwrap mozzarella sticks and lay them on a baking sheet. Freeze for at least 2 hours.
  • Prepare the breading station by setting up three shallow bowls: one with flour, one with beaten eggs mixed with milk, and one with breadcrumbs mixed with Parmesan, garlic powder, oregano, salt, and pepper.

Breading

  • Take each frozen mozzarella stick and first dip it into the flour, shaking off excess.
  • Immersed in the egg mixture, ensuring it’s thoroughly coated.
  • Press the stick into the breadcrumb mixture, covering it entirely.
  • For added crunch, repeat the process: dip in egg again and then coat with breadcrumbs.
  • Return coated sticks to the freezer for an additional 30 minutes to 1 hour.

Frying

  • Heat oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C).
  • Carefully add a few cheese sticks at a time to avoid overcrowding. Fry for about 1-2 minutes until golden brown.
  • Remove fried mozzarella sticks from oil and place on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.

Serving

  • Serve hot with marinara sauce for dipping.
  • Optionally, present with fresh basil leaves or extra Parmesan cheese.

Notes

Ensure oil is at the right temperature. Quality cheese matters. These sticks are best immediately after frying.
