Ingredients
  

For the Sauce

  • 1 pound ground beef Opt for lean ground beef for less fat.
  • 1 each onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 28 ounces crushed tomatoes
  • 12 ounces tomato paste 2 cans of 6 ounces each.
  • 15 ounces tomato sauce
  • 2 teaspoons dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For the Pasta

  • 12 ounces spaghetti Cook until al dente.

For Serving

  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Fresh herbs for garnish Basil or parsley recommended.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Brown the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat, adding chopped onion and minced garlic as the beef cooks.
  • Drain excess fat and transfer the mixture into your crockpot.
  • In the crockpot, combine the browned meat with crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, and tomato sauce.
  • Add dried basil, oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly.

Cooking

  • Cover the crockpot and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours.
  • About 30 minutes before serving, cook spaghetti according to package instructions until al dente.

Finishing Touches

  • Drain the spaghetti and stir it into the sauce in the crockpot.
  • Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese on top and cover for a few minutes to melt the cheese.
  • Garnish with fresh herbs before serving.

Notes

For added nutrition, consider incorporating vegetables such as bell peppers, mushrooms, or zucchini. Adjust seasonings based on personal taste, and avoid overcooking spaghetti to maintain texture.
