  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon fresh orange zest
  • 1 tablespoon fresh orange juice

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  • In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.

Mixing the Dough

  • Add the egg, vanilla extract, orange zest, and orange juice to the butter mixture and mix well.
  • Gradually add the flour mixture, mixing just until combined.

Baking

  • Scoop tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each ball.
  • Flatten each dough ball slightly and bake for 10-12 minutes, until golden around the edges.
  • Allow cookies to cool on the sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
  • Once cooled, dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

For best results, use softened butter and level flour properly. Consider adding white chocolate chips or nuts for variations.
