Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, sugar, and brown sugar until fluffy.
  • Beat in the eggs one at a time, ensuring each is well incorporated before adding the next.
  • Add the vanilla extract and mix until the batter is smooth.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing gently to avoid overmixing.

Shaping and Baking

  • Roll the dough into small balls and shape them into egg-like forms.
  • Place shaped cookies on ungreased baking sheets, flattening them slightly.
  • Bake for 8 to 10 minutes until edges are lightly golden.
  • Decorate while still warm with chocolate chips or candy-coated chocolates, then allow to cool on a wire rack.

Notes

For best results, refrigerate dough for 30 minutes before shaping. Layer parchment paper between layers of cookies to prevent sticking when storing.
