Ingredients
  

Meat and Sauce

  • 1 lb ground beef Browned ground beef for the meat base.
  • 1 tbsp olive oil Used for sautéing the onions and garlic.
  • 1 small onion, chopped Chopped onion for flavor.
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced Minced garlic for aromatic flavor.
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder For added flavor.
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder For added flavor.
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano Herb for seasoning.
  • 1/2 tsp dried parsley Herb for seasoning.
  • 1/2 tsp salt To taste.
  • to taste Pepper To taste.
  • 28 oz marinara sauce Base for the sauce.
  • 1/2 c chicken broth For thinning the sauce.

Cheese

  • 4 oz mozzarella, shredded or sliced For topping.
  • 1/4 c fresh Parmigiano reggiano, grated For topping.

Pasta

  • 24 oz potato gnocchi Main ingredient for the dish.

Garnish

  • fresh basil Optional garnish for serving.

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Brown the ground beef in a large sauté pan over medium heat, breaking it up as it cooks until it's no longer pink. Drain any excess grease.
  • Add the olive oil, chopped onion, and minced garlic to the pan. Cook for 3-5 minutes until the onion is translucent.
  • Sprinkle in the onion powder, garlic powder, oregano, parsley, salt, and pepper. Stir for another minute.
  • Pour in the marinara sauce and chicken broth. Stir to combine and reduce the heat to low. Cover and let simmer for 20 minutes.

Cooking

  • Stir in the potato gnocchi, ensuring they are well coated in the sauce. Cover and let simmer for 10 minutes.
  • Remove the lid and add mozzarella cheese on top. Allow it to melt for a few minutes. Sprinkle the grated Parmigiano reggiano on top before serving.

Notes

For added flavor, consider using red pepper flakes when browning the beef. Be mindful of the cooking time for gnocchi, and keep covered to avoid overcooking.
