Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp dried parsley
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • Pepper to taste Pepper, to taste
  • 28 oz marinara sauce
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 4 oz mozzarella cheese, shredded or sliced
  • 1/4 cup fresh Parmigiano Reggiano, grated
  • 24 oz potato gnocchi
  • Fresh basil for garnish Optional: fresh basil for garnish

Instructions

Preparation

  • Start by browning the ground beef in a large sauté pan over medium heat. Drain off any excess grease.
  • Add the olive oil, chopped onion, and minced garlic to the pan. Sprinkle in the onion powder, garlic powder, dried oregano, dried parsley, salt, and pepper. Sauté for 3 to 5 minutes until the onions are soft.
  • Stir in the marinara sauce and chicken broth. Reduce heat to low, cover the pan, and let it simmer for about 20 minutes.
  • Stir in the potato gnocchi, cover the pan again, and simmer for an additional 10 minutes.
  • Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella over the top and allow it to melt. Finish with grated Parmigiano Reggiano and serve.

Notes

For creaminess, mix in a splash of heavy cream before adding the gnocchi. Let the dish rest before serving for better flavor mixing.
