Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Grease a 9×9 inch baking pan thoroughly.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the mashed bananas and melted butter until smooth.
  • Add sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract to the banana mixture and mix well.
  • In another bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and stir until just combined.
  • If using, fold in chocolate chips.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly.

Baking

  • Bake for 20-25 minutes, checking for doneness with a toothpick.
  • Let cool in the pan before slicing into squares.
