Ingredients
  

For the chicken marinade

  • 2 pieces chicken breasts Cut into strips for marinating
  • 1 cup Greek yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

For assembling the gyros

  • 4 pieces pita breads Warm before assembling
  • 1 cup lettuce, shredded
  • 1 cup tomatoes, diced
  • 1 cup cucumbers, sliced
  • ½ cup feta cheese, crumbled
  • ½ cup tzatziki sauce For serving

Preparation

  • In a bowl, combine the Greek yogurt, lemon juice, minced garlic, olive oil, oregano, paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
  • Cut the chicken breasts into strips and place them in the marinade. Coat well, cover, and let it marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.

Cooking

  • Heat a skillet over medium heat and add the marinated chicken strips. Cook for 6-8 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden brown and fully cooked.
  • While the chicken cooks, warm the pita breads in a pan or oven until soft and pliable.

Assembly

  • Take a warm pita and add a portion of the cooked chicken. Top with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, sliced cucumbers, and crumbled feta cheese.
  • Finish with a drizzle of tzatziki sauce and serve immediately.

Notes

Marination is key for flavor. Feel free to customize with various toppings and sauces.
