  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 8 oz mushrooms, sliced Don't overcook them.
  • 2 cups beef broth Use high-quality broth for better flavor.
  • 1 cup sour cream Adjust for creaminess preference.
  • 2 tbsp flour Can be substituted with cornstarch for gluten-free.
  • Salt and pepper to taste Adjust seasonings before serving.

For Serving

  • Egg noodles or mashed potatoes Can also serve over rice or steamed vegetables.

Preparation

  • Brown the ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat and drain excess fat.
  • Add chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet and sauté until the onion is translucent (about 3-5 minutes).
  • Stir in sliced mushrooms and cook until softened (about 5 minutes).
  • Sprinkle flour over the beef mixture, stirring to combine. Gradually add beef broth, stirring continuously to prevent lumps.
  • Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer until it thickens.

Finishing Touches

  • Lower the heat and stir in the sour cream. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Serving

  • Serve over egg noodles or mashed potatoes, garnished with fresh parsley or chives if desired.
