Preparation

  • Start by preheating your air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
  • Drain and rinse the chickpeas under cold water. Pat them dry with a clean towel.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the chickpeas, olive oil, garlic powder, smoked paprika, ground cumin, salt, and pepper. Toss everything together until the chickpeas are evenly coated.

Cooking

  • Place the chickpeas in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Cook in batches if necessary.
  • Air fry the chickpeas for 15-20 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through.
  • Check for desired crispiness; if crunchier chickpeas are preferred, air fry for an additional 5 minutes.
  • Remove the chickpeas and let them cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For the best texture, dry the chickpeas thoroughly and consider marinating them in spices for more flavor. Shake the basket every 5-7 minutes while cooking to ensure even crispiness.
