  • 1 lb chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1/2 cup orange juice Freshly squeezed is best
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce Use tamari for gluten-free version
  • 2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup Adjust sweetness to taste
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon garlic, minced Fresh is recommended
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, minced Fresh is recommended
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • to taste Salt and pepper For seasoning
  • as needed Green onions, for garnish Chopped
  • as needed Sesame seeds, for garnish

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the orange juice, soy sauce, honey or maple syrup, rice vinegar, garlic, and ginger to create the orange sauce.
  • In a separate bowl, mix the cornstarch with a bit of water to create a slurry and set aside.

Cooking

  • Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and sauté the chicken pieces until golden brown, about 5 to 7 minutes.
  • Pour the prepared orange sauce over the cooked chicken and let it simmer for around 5 minutes.
  • Stir in the cornstarch slurry and continue cooking until the sauce thickens to your desired consistency. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Serving

  • Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds before serving. Pair with steamed rice, quinoa, or sautéed vegetables.

Notes

For meal prep, cook a larger batch and store in airtight containers for up to 4 days in the refrigerator. Freezing is also possible for 2 to 3 months.
