Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Ensure it is at room temperature
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed light-brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract

Chocolate Chips

  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips Can substitute with other types of chocolate chips

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a bowl, whisk together the flour and baking soda, then set aside.
  • In another large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and salt together until smooth and creamy.
  • Add the vanilla extract and eggs to the butter and sugar mixture, beating until combined and fluffy.
  • Gradually mix in the flour mixture until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
  • Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips until evenly distributed.

Baking

  • Use a scoop or tablespoon to drop rounded balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  • Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.
  • Remove from the oven and cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

For chewier cookies, chill the dough for at least 30 minutes before baking. Experiment with different chocolate chips or add nuts for variations.
