  • 4 pieces chicken breasts High-quality chicken for best flavor
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 cup milk Substitute heavy cream for a creamier version
  • 1/4 cup flour For thickening the gravy
  • 1 piece onion, chopped Adds depth of flavor
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced Enhances the flavor of the gravy
  • Salt and pepper to taste Adjust according to preference
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme For added flavor

Preparation

  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat until it sizzles gently.
  • Season chicken breasts with salt and pepper on both sides and place them in the skillet.
  • Cook chicken for 6-7 minutes on each side or until golden brown and fully cooked, then set aside.
  • In the same skillet, add chopped onion and minced garlic; sauté until onion is translucent (about 3-5 minutes).
  • Add flour to the sautéed mixture and cook for 1-2 minutes to eliminate the raw flour taste.
  • Gradually pour in chicken broth while whisking, then add milk and continue whisking until smooth.

Cooking

  • Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer, allowing it to thicken while avoiding aggressive boiling.
  • Stir in dried thyme and return the cooked chicken breasts to the skillet; let simmer for about 10 minutes.
  • Check that the gravy has thickened and is bubbling slightly, then it’s ready to serve.

Notes

Serve with mashed potatoes or rice, and consider garnishing with fresh parsley or thyme. Storage: Refrigerate leftovers for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
