  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon Enhances flavor
  • 1/2 tsp salt To taste

Preparation

  • Peel and chop the sweet potatoes into uniform chunks.
  • Place the chopped sweet potatoes in a large pot filled with cold water to ensure they are submerged.

Cooking

  • Heat over medium-high heat until the water gently boils.
  • Cook the sweet potatoes for about 15 to 20 minutes, or until fork-tender.
  • Drain well in a colander.

Mashing and Mixing

  • Return drained sweet potatoes to the pot and mash until smooth.
  • While still warm, add butter and honey, stirring until the butter is melted.
  • Gradually mix in milk or cream to reach desired consistency.
  • Add salt and cinnamon to taste, mixing well.

Serving

  • Serve warm, garnished with a sprinkle of cinnamon or chopped pecans, if desired.
