  • 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Beat in the eggs one at a time, then mix in the vanilla extract.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  • Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips and chopped nuts, if using.
  • Scoop rounded balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving space between each cookie.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, until the edges are golden brown and the centers look set.
  • Allow cookies to cool on baking sheets for about 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

To ensure chewy cookies, avoid overmixing the dough. Refrigerating the dough for 30 minutes before baking can enhance texture.
