  • 6 pieces fresh brats Opt for fresh brats for best flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil For tossing the vegetables.
  • 1 medium onion, sliced Adds sweetness and flavor.
  • 1 bell pepper, sliced bell pepper, sliced Color and additional flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder Enhances flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder Adds depth to the seasoning.
  • Salt and pepper to taste Adjust based on preference.
  • Soft rolls or buns for serving For serving the brats.
  • Mustard, sauerkraut, and other toppings (optional) Customize to your liking.

Preparation

  • Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a mixing bowl, toss the sliced onions and bell peppers with olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper until evenly coated.

Cooking

  • Place the brats in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Add the seasoned peppers and onions around the brats.
  • Cook the brats and vegetables for 12-15 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through cooking to ensure even browning.
  • Check that the brats have reached an internal temperature of at least 160°F (71°C) using a meat thermometer.
  • Remove the brats from the air fryer and let them rest for a few minutes before serving.
  • Serve the brats in soft rolls or buns, topped with your choice of mustard, sauerkraut, or other favorite toppings.

Notes

For best results, do not overcrowd the air fryer basket. Preheating is crucial to achieving a crispy exterior. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-5 days.
