Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract for cookie dough
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk

Glaze

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract for glaze

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  • In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set this mixture aside.

Cookie Dough

  • In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then stir in the vanilla extract.
  • Gradually add the dry flour mixture to the butter-sugar mixture, alternating with buttermilk. Begin and end with the flour mixture. Mix until just combined.
  • Scoop about 1 tablespoon of dough for each cookie and place them on the prepared baking sheet, leaving enough space between each scoop to allow for spreading.

Baking

  • Bake the cookies in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges turn a light golden brown.
  • While the cookies are baking, prepare the glaze by whisking together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract in a small bowl until smooth.
  • Once the cookies are done baking, allow them to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.
  • Drizzle the glaze over the cooled cookies. Let the glaze set before serving.

Notes
