Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, combine the whole wheat flour, baking soda, and salt. Mix well and set aside.
  • In another bowl, mix together the applesauce, honey (or maple syrup), brown sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  • Beat in the egg until fully incorporated.
  • Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring until combined.
  • Fold in the dark chocolate chips.

Baking

  • Drop spoonfuls of the cookie dough onto the prepared baking tray, spacing them about two inches apart.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges start to turn golden.
  • Remove from the oven and allow cookies to cool on the tray for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
