  • 1 lb ground beef Opt for lean ground beef for a healthier option.
  • 1/2 small onion, finely diced
  • 3 cups green cabbage, shredded
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced

Seasonings and Oils

  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce (or coconut aminos for low sodium)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Garnishes

  • 2 green onions, sliced For garnish
  • 1 tablespoon toasted sesame seeds (optional) For garnish

Instructions
 

Cooking the Beef

  • Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, about 8-10 minutes. Drain excess fat.

Adding Vegetables

  • Add the finely diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook for 2-3 minutes until fragrant and the onion softens.
  • Stir in the shredded cabbage and sauté for approximately 5 minutes until it wilts slightly.

Flavoring the Dish

  • Pour in soy sauce or coconut aminos, sesame oil, rice vinegar, ground ginger, and red pepper flakes (if using). Mix thoroughly.
  • Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, letting the cabbage soften to your preferred level of crunchiness.

Finishing Touches

  • Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and black pepper as needed. Plate the dish and garnish with sliced green onions and toasted sesame seeds.

Notes

Choose 90% or 95% lean ground beef to keep the dish low in saturated fat. You can make variations by adding other vegetables or using different proteins such as ground turkey or chicken. This dish can also be made vegetarian with crumbled tofu.
