Ingredients
  

For the cake

  • 1 cup unsalted butter Melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 4 large eggs Room temperature
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

For the topping

  • 1 cup mini marshmallows
  • 1 cup chocolate frosting Store-bought or homemade

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking pan.
  • In a large bowl, melt the unsalted butter and let it cool slightly.
  • Mix the granulated sugar and brown sugar into the melted butter until smooth.
  • Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  • Gradually stir in the all-purpose flour and unsweetened cocoa powder until just blended.

Baking

  • Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 25-30 minutes.
  • Check for doneness with a toothpick; it should come out with a few moist crumbs.
  • As soon as the cake is done, sprinkle mini marshmallows on top and return to the oven for an additional 5 minutes.

Frosting and Serving

  • Remove the cake from the oven and spread the chocolate frosting evenly over the top.
  • Let the cake cool completely before slicing and serving.

Notes

Serve Mississippi Mud Cake at room temperature, optionally with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. Variations include adding nuts or candy bars for added texture and flavor.
