Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Heat a tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  • Add the sliced sausage rounds and sauté for about 4 to 5 minutes until browned.
  • Remove the sausage from the skillet and set aside.

Cooking Vegetables

  • In the same skillet, add the diced onion and bell pepper.
  • Sauté for about 3 to 4 minutes until onions are translucent and bell pepper is softened.
  • Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional 30 seconds.

Add Spices and Rice

  • Stir in smoked paprika and black pepper.
  • Add uncooked long-grain rice and toast for about 1 to 2 minutes.

Combine and Simmer

  • Pour in chicken broth and BBQ sauce, ensuring rice is covered.
  • Return the browned sausage to the skillet and mix well.
  • Bring to a boil, cover, and reduce heat to low, letting it simmer for 20 to 22 minutes.

Finishing Touches

  • Remove from heat and let rest for about five minutes.
  • Fluff the rice gently with a fork and garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
