  • 1 pound smoked sausage, sliced
  • 12 ounces pasta (penne or rotini) You can use any pasta type that cooks similarly.
  • 1 cup honey BBQ sauce
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 bell pepper, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional) Adjust to taste.
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Chopped parsley for garnish Adds a pop of color.

  • Heat a large skillet over medium heat.
  • Add the sliced smoked sausage and cook until browned, stirring occasionally.
  • Add the chopped onion, bell pepper, and minced garlic to the skillet. Sauté until the vegetables are softened, about 3 to 5 minutes.
  • Stir in the red pepper flakes (if using), then pour in the honey BBQ sauce and chicken broth. Bring the mixture to a simmer.
  • Add the pasta directly into the skillet, ensuring it is submerged in the liquid. Cook according to the package instructions until al dente, stirring occasionally.
  • Once the pasta is cooked, season with salt and pepper to taste. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley before serving.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 to 4 days or freeze for 2 to 3 months. Reheat adding a splash of broth if needed.
