Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×9-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
  • In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then, add the orange juice, orange zest, and vanilla extract, stirring until combined.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Avoid overmixing.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, smoothing the top gently with a spatula.

Baking

  • Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Let the bars cool completely in the pan on a wire rack before slicing them into squares or rectangles.
  • If desired, dust the cooled bars with powdered sugar before serving for a beautiful presentation.

Notes
