  • 1 box yellow cake mix
  • 1 packet orange gelatin mix
  • 1 cup orange soda
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 4 large eggs At room temperature

For the Glaze

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 3 tablespoons orange juice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Zest of 1 orange

For Serving (Optional)

  • 1/2 cup whipped topping

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (176°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking pan.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the yellow cake mix, orange gelatin mix, orange soda, vegetable oil, and eggs.
  • Beat the mixture on medium speed until well blended, about 2 minutes.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Glaze Preparation

  • While the cake cools, whisk together powdered sugar, orange juice, orange zest, and vanilla extract in a separate bowl to make the glaze.

Finishing

  • Once baked, let the cake cool in the pan for about 10 minutes.
  • Poke holes all over the top of the warm cake with a fork.
  • Pour the glaze over the warm cake, allowing it to soak in.
  • Let the cake cool completely before serving.

For the best results, ensure all ingredients are at room temperature. The cake can be stored covered at room temperature for 2-3 days or refrigerated for about a week. Individual slices can be frozen for longer storage.
