  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar Provides sweetness and a gooey texture.
  • 1 1/2 cups hot water To create the desired gooey finish.

Preparation

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Pour melted butter into a 9x13-inch baking dish, ensuring it's evenly covered.
  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt until well blended.
  • Gradually add the milk and vanilla extract, stirring just until combined.
  • Pour the batter gently over the melted butter, without stirring it.
  • Sprinkle the chopped pecans evenly across the batter.
  • Distribute the packed light brown sugar over the pecans.
  • Slowly pour hot water over the entire dish, without stirring.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and edges are bubbling.
  • Allow to rest for 10-15 minutes before serving.

Notes

Serve warm or chilled, with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days, or freeze for up to 3 months.
