  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil

Peanut Butter Filling

  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter Creamy peanut butter is preferred.
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened Should be at room temperature.
  • 1 cup powdered sugar

Toppings

  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup chopped peanuts Optional for added crunch.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Grease your cake pan generously with non-stick spray or butter.

Mixing the Batter

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the chocolate cake mix, water, vegetable oil, and eggs. Mix until smooth and creamy.
  • Pour half of the prepared cake batter into the greased pan.

Preparing the Filling

  • In a separate bowl, mix together peanut butter, cream cheese, and powdered sugar until smooth.
  • Spoon the peanut butter mixture over the layer of chocolate batter in the pan.

Baking

  • Pour the remaining chocolate batter over the peanut butter layer.
  • Sprinkle chocolate chips and optional chopped peanuts on top.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, checking for doneness with a toothpick.

Cooling

  • Once baked, cool the cake in the pan for a few minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
