Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Start by placing a large pot over medium heat. Add the ground beef or turkey and brown for about 5 to 7 minutes, breaking it apart with a spatula. Drain any excess fat.
  • Add the diced onion and minced garlic, stirring until the onion becomes translucent.

Cooking

  • Pour in the diced tomatoes and tomato paste, then add the kidney beans, black beans, broth, chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper. Stir until well combined.
  • Increase the heat to bring the pot to a rolling boil, then reduce to a simmer.
  • Cover partially and simmer for at least 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Adjust seasoning as needed.

Serving

  • Serve hot, adding desired toppings like shredded cheese, sour cream, or green onions.

Notes

Chili can be customized by using different types of meat or beans and adjusting spice levels. Letting the chili rest enhances flavor.
