  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 medium bell pepper, chopped

  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon mustard
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 8 ounces pasta (elbow macaroni or similar), cooked and drained
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Preparation

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a sizable baking dish.
  • In a large skillet over medium-high heat, heat olive oil.
  • Add ground beef, chopped onion, and bell pepper; cook until beef is browned and vegetables are softened (about 5-7 minutes).
  • Drain excess fat from the skillet, then add minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.
  • Stir in tomato sauce, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, mustard, salt, and pepper; let simmer for about 10 minutes.
  • Cook pasta according to package instructions, then drain.
  • Combine sauce with cooked pasta in the prepared baking dish.
  • Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the casserole.
  • Bake in the oven for 20-25 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  • Remove from oven and let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Garnish with fresh herbs like parsley or chives for added flavor. Serve with side dishes like a green salad or steamed vegetables.
