  • 4 slices mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup sour cream Full-fat preferred for creaminess
  • ¾ cup Parmesan cheese, freshly grated Divided
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch For thickening
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with nonstick spray.
  • In a small bowl, combine the sour cream, ½ cup of the grated Parmesan cheese, cornstarch, oregano, basil, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Whisk until smooth.
  • Place the chicken breasts in the prepared baking dish in a single layer without overlapping.
  • Lay a slice of mozzarella cheese on each chicken breast.

Baking

  • Spread the sour cream mixture over the chicken breasts until covered.
  • Sprinkle the remaining ¼ cup of grated Parmesan cheese on top.
  • Bake uncovered in the oven for about 1 hour, until the chicken is fully cooked and the sauce is bubbling.
  • Remove from the oven and garnish with chopped parsley before serving.

Notes

For best flavor, use fresh ingredients. You can also marinate the chicken in the sour cream mixture for a few hours or overnight before baking for enhanced flavor.
