Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 cup active sourdough starter
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips or your favorite mix-ins Optional

Instructions

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line your baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until the mixture is light and fluffy.
  • Add the sourdough starter, eggs, and vanilla extract to the mixture. Beat until combined and smooth.
  • In another bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet mixture, blending until just combined.
  • If using, fold in your chocolate chips or preferred mix-ins.
  • Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop dollops of dough onto your prepared baking sheets, leaving enough space between each cookie.

Baking

  • Bake in preheated oven for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the edges turn slightly golden.
  • Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For a thicker cookie, chill the dough for at least 30 minutes before baking. Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. For longer storage, freeze in an airtight container for up to three months.
