  • 1 cup cooked rice You can use white, brown rice, or quinoa for a healthier option.
  • 1 cup queso cheese Opt for a creamy cheese that melts well.

Preparation

  • Season the flank or sirloin steak with paprika, salt, pepper, and ground cumin, coating evenly.

Cooking the Steak

  • Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat until shimmering.
  • Sear the seasoned steak for 4-5 minutes on each side until a nice brown crust forms, adjusting time according to doneness preference.
  • Remove the steak from the skillet and let it rest for a few minutes to allow juices to redistribute.

Making Cheesy Rice

  • In the same skillet, add the cooked rice and stir gently to warm it.
  • Mix in the queso cheese and stir until it melts completely, forming a creamy rice base.

Serving

  • Slice the rested steak against the grain and place it atop the cheesy rice.
  • Garnish with chopped cilantro for added flavor and color.

Notes
