Ingredients

For the Chicken

  • 1.5 pounds chicken thighs, boneless and skinless
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil for cooking
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste

For the Marinade

  • 1/4 cup gochujang (Korean chili paste)
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 4 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, grated

For Garnish

  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds for garnish
  • sliced green onions for garnish

For Serving

  • cooked rice or noodles for serving

Instructions

Preparation

  • Cut the chicken thighs into bite-sized pieces and season with salt and pepper.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine gochujang, honey, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, minced garlic, and grated ginger. Mix well until blended.
  • Add the seasoned chicken pieces to the marinade, ensuring each piece is well-coated. Cover and marinate in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to 2 hours.

Cooking

  • Heat a tablespoon of vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Add the marinated chicken (discarding excess marinade) and cook, stirring occasionally, until the chicken is golden-brown and cooked through, about 6-8 minutes.

Serving

  • Transfer the sticky chicken to a serving dish and garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions.
  • Serve over cooked rice or noodles.

Notes

For best results, marinate the chicken longer, up to overnight. You can also replace chicken thighs with chicken breast or tofu for variations. Serve with steamed broccoli or Asian slaw for added nutrition.
