Topping and Filling

  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, sliced Use ripe and firm strawberries.
  • 1 package (3 oz) strawberry jello Any brand works.
  • 1 cup boiling water To dissolve the jello.
  • 1 cup cold water To mix with the jello.
  • 1 cup whipped cream For topping.

Preparation

  • In a heat-safe bowl, dissolve the strawberry jello powder in boiling water, stirring until fully dissolved.
  • Add cold water to the jello mixture and stir well. Allow it to cool slightly.
  • Slice fresh strawberries into bite-sized pieces.
  • Once the jello mixture has cooled, gently mix in the sliced strawberries.

Assembly

  • Tear or cut the angel food cake into bite-sized pieces.
  • Layer the cake pieces in a serving dish.
  • Pour the strawberry and jello mixture over the cake pieces.
  • Refrigerate and chill for at least 2 hours to allow the jello to set.

Serving

  • Before serving, top the chilled dessert with whipped cream.
  • Garnish with additional strawberry slices, if desired.

Notes

For optimal flavor, chill longer than 2 hours. Store in the refrigerator and enjoy within 2-3 days for best texture.
