  • 4 cups mashed sweet potatoes Cooked and mashed sweet potatoes
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup milk Can use whole or low-fat milk
  • 1/2 cup butter Melted
  • 2 large eggs Beaten
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

For the Pecan Topping

  • 1 cup chopped pecans Fresh pecans preferred
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter Melted

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine mashed sweet potatoes, brown sugar, milk, melted butter, eggs, vanilla extract, and salt. Mix until smooth.
  • Pour the mixture into a greased baking dish, spreading it evenly.

Topping

  • In a separate bowl, combine chopped pecans, flour, sugar, and melted butter. Mix until crumbly.
  • Sprinkle the pecan topping evenly over the sweet potato mixture.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes until the topping is golden brown and the edges are bubbling.
  • Allow the casserole to cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

For variations, try a marshmallow topping or adding spices like cinnamon or nutmeg for extra flavor.
