Preparation

  • Cook the macaroni according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Make the Cheese Sauce

  • In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
  • Sprinkle the flour in and stir for about a minute to create a roux.
  • Gradually whisk in the milk, stirring continuously until the sauce thickens and bubbles form.
  • Remove from heat and stir in the cheddar and mozzarella cheese until melted and smooth.

Combine Ingredients

  • In a separate bowl, mix the cooked chicken, honey, and cracked black pepper.
  • Combine the cooked macaroni with the cheese sauce, ensuring all pasta is coated.
  • Layer half of the macaroni and cheese in a baking dish, top with honey pepper chicken, then add remaining macaroni and cheese.
  • Sprinkle optional breadcrumbs or extra cheese on top.

Bake

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and bubbly.
  • Let cool slightly before serving.
